What is involved in studying for a business administration degree?
Whether you choose to study online or take a traditional course at a college or university, a business administration degree should provide you with an excellent foundation for a successful career in business.
Typically this degree will include some or all of the following subjects: management, marketing, accounting and finance, human resources, organizational behavior, global business strategy, management information systems and communications.
What types of business administration degree are available?
Degree courses in this field are available at associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level.
The associate’s degree usually takes two years to complete (possibly less if studied online) and satisfies the requirements for many entry-level positions in industry or government. It can later be transferred towards a four-year degree.
A bachelor’s degree takes longer to complete (typically three or four years) but requires more in-depth study of the various subjects involved. Students can also specialize in the particular areas that interest them.
A master’s degree in business administration – or MBA – is intended to prepare students for senior administrative positions in both private industry and the public sector. At this level emphasis is placed on the development of analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
Opportunities for research towards a doctoral degree are offered by a number of colleges and universities.
